The widgets seem to be a complete separate beast that cannot be customized. Is that right? Or can I customize a widget further than the few parameters that I enter when adding one?

In older versions the source code was provided, and the ‘widgets’ were created using AS.

With HTML output replacing SWF, the widgets were replaced by ‘Learning Interactions’, compatible with HTML but still based on the old SWF-technology. No source code.

For SWF output there were tons of widgets available from external sources which was great. Since HTML rules that is no longer the case. I have and use only a couple of external HTML widgets. The name in Captivate is confusing, because the old SWF widgets are still available as well, but in the Properties the ‘new’ Learning interactions are also indicated as ‘widget’.

Most widgets can perfectly be replaced by a custom solution with Shared/Advanced actions, variables and eventually JS.
