File Size of a finished project

I created a non-interactive informational video to email to participants. However, some of the emails were undeliverable due to the file size exceeding the limit.  I made sure the any unused items were deleted; and tried to resend as well as send as a zip file but was still unsuccessful. Is there a way to reduce the file size so that it can be sent via email? Thanks.

Always some good suggestions coming from the community. I was thinking of both solutions provided here. Google Drive or Dropbox are other options as you can create a private folders for public view and assign passwords. Not the best long term solution but for a one off it should work.

If the output is MP4, I would upload the finished project to a Video sharing site like Vimeo or YouTube. You can set the video to only be viewed by those who have the unlisted URL. I do this for my instruction or consultation clients. I record our session together and upload the recording to Vimeo. I set the privacy to Only people with the link can access. You can optionally select Allow downloads and then learners can download the video to review offline. I believe this is a premium feature I pay for but completely worth it to me because it similifies my workflow.

Thank you for your quick response.. Here I thought that I was doing something with my unused items and troubleshooting but in reality I was doing nothing to help my project!!!  This is good to know for future projects. I believe that my organization is exploring other ways to send out the video rather than via email.  Again, thanks and I appreciate your response.

Many users believe that would help, to clean the Library, and I regret that even some ‘experts’ claim it. Although it is very easy to check this out…

Many ways are available to transfer bigger files, as I mentioned before and gave some examples.

MP4 tends to have big file sizes. Deleting unused items in the Library has no effect whatsoever on the size of the published project, which is a common mistake (even propagated by some experts). How can any item which will never be included in the output be responsible for the file size?

MP4 is already a very compressed format, zipping will not help a lot.

You can always have an estimation of the file size in Captivate before publishing, using the Project Info panel (to be opened from the Window menu). It has two buttons  ‘Check’ which will calculate the output file size for SWF or HTML output.

That can help you to see the consequences of trying to minimize file size by using the Settings for audio and video files to reduce them as much as possible. Use any item without rescaling in Captivate, but import them in the needed size.

However, there are many ways to send bigger files either by specialized services (like WeTransfer) or by sharing a link to the file in a Cloud depository. I have used Dropbox, Creative Cloud documents, OneDrive…. and more.

I agree that using a larger cloud-based file sharing system might make sense.
