Very useful to teach and learn
What a fun and creative way to educate people about diet. Nice intuitive layout
Hi, Wayne.
I would like to adapt this game for my 9-year olds. Is there a chance to download it and edit the questions? Right now I can not download it when I click the button.
Thanks,
Lana
Hi Lana, please check if your browser is blocking pop-ups for this website or not. You can download the project files after submitting a form that pops up once you click ‘Download project’. Great project, thanks for sharing.
hi, im new in captivate how did you put javascript in this?
great work.
Hi,
JavaScript is executed on the slide that has the spin button, if you look in the properties panel under On Enter > Execute JavaScript and click on the script window the code is displayed. This JavaScript code contains all the quiz questions and produces a random number. The random number is used to play a random spin sequence on the video.
I had to use a combination of JavaScript and advanced actions to get this working. I was rushing to get this completed on time, and it gave me an opportunity to try out some new code.
Thanks for sharing! This gives me some ideas.
Your welcome.
I looked into many ways of creating a spin wheel from using effects, image sequences and blurring images to simulate a spin. Having the video on one slide and jumping to points on the video avoids the video loading lag that happens when you put the video across multiple slides.
Opens up a world of possibilities for interactive videos.
I agree, it is insightful!
Really neat and professional project. I wish I could see the steps of development. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. It took many hours of testing and experimenting to see what would work.
Thanks.
Thanks. The spin animation is not done in Captivate, it is a video that is playing to achieve the effect.
Thank you Wayne for sharing such a great piece of Game. Picker wheel is an all time favorite and appealing game for designers and students.
My question for you is – how did you create the video of spinning wheel? Can you share some details?
I wish we had a step by step video tutorial explaining this design implementation.
Hi Rupali,
The video of the spinning wheel was created by taking a spin wheel graphic into Adobe After Effects. With the image imported, I animated the the wheel to spin and stop for each food group using key frames. I added audio after each selection rather than use the audio on the Captivate timeline. The animation is then exported and placed into Captivate.
After Effects can be tricky to learn, but there is a lot that can be done to create video animations.
Thank you so much Wayne! I’ll try my hands on Adobe After Effects.
Did you think of creating this spinning animation in PowerPoint? Or did you think that After Effects was a better option over PowerPoint to create such animation?
I looked at what was done for wheel spin animations and tried everything from Flash, image sequences, Captivate effects, JavaScript and embed web pages. I found After Effects produced the best results. After Effects has options to add motion blur and control the ease animation and can be exported in multiple video formats.
oh wow, very creative!
Fun. The animations are great. I am just learning animations now and I was trying to figure out how many animations were running on each spin. Nicely done.
