I am trying to solve a problem I am having with a project and validating a TEB using a Tab key as a shortcut. My project works as programed if I set the shortcut key to Enter. However this is not how the application works. The application requires the user to press the Tab key.
What I am seeing is this:
- I have a validate user input set with a failure prompt if the learner types in the wrong text.
- This validation works with an Enter key shortcut every time the learner enter the wrong text. Does not work with a Tab key shortcut.
- I have an advance action set for On Focus Lost that does the following:
- Checks the Text entry box value and if correct moves to the next slide. (this works every time)
- If the text entered is incorrect, displays a custom text caption telling the learner what is the correct entry (this only works the first time for an incorrect submission). Each incorrect submission after the first incorrect has no incorrect caption showing. If the learner enters the correct text the slide advances as expected .
I know there has been many posts for HTML5 tabbing for some time now. I have not stumbled across a full proof solution.
My project for the most part works other than showing the learner a second incorrect caption when tabbing out a second or third etc…
Can you post a screenshot of the setup? It is not clear to me how many attempts you provide, nor why you are not using the Failure message of the TEB? I just double-checked and the Failure message appears on each failed attempt when you have multiple or infinite attempts for the TEB. I used TAB as shortcut key and did hide the Submit button. FYI I am on 11.5.5.553?
