Play Audio intermittent

Hi,

I have created a mobile phone with buttons for the numbers as an interactive element in a slide in Captivate 2019. I have the ‘Play Audio’ Action assigned to the number buttons with a key press sound .wav file (about half a second long). When you press the first button the audio plays, when you press the next button the audio doesn’t play – you have to press twice or more to trigger the sound. This is such a clunky effect I’m having to remove the audio but this spoils the interaction. I don’t have a roll-over state set for the buttons as I wanted the effect to be as close to a real mobile phone as possible.  I can’t use the default click sound as this isn’t realistic for a phone. It seems that the ‘play audio’ function isn’t intended for multiple short sounds more for longer audio clips. I initially had multiple advanced actions assigned to the buttons and I thought this could be causing the problem so I simply assigned the ‘Play Audio’ and the result was the same.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks

Another idea: did you ever try to attach the audio to the Down state?

There are probably multiple causes for your problem. All audio clips need to be loaded On Enter for the slide, and that takes some time. Audio clips tend to be big, compared with static images, and mobile phones don’t have the same powerful hardware/software as desktop/laptop systems.  Play audio normally works fine, and you don’t need to stop Triggered Audio when playing a new clip since that is activated automatically when you play a new clip. The biggest problem could be with the duration of the clips. Did you ever try to edit them and add some dirty noise at the start to increase the duration (maybe also at the end) so that there is some more time to load?
