Hello

I have created a new style smartshape for use in Software Simulation as the default Hint shape – I have called it “NewInstruction”.

It has saved it and applies it to my project.  I can set it as the default for the project and it applies it to all similar hint boxes in the project.

However….How do I find this new shape again to set it as a global hint default for all my projects?  Is this possible?  When I go to Preferences without a project open and try to set it as the default, the option of my new style is not there.  Do I need to save it to somewhere?  Thank you

You don’t have to explain that situation. Too bad it happens so often, as I told most developers don’t even know what a Theme is nor its importance. I always start a project by setting up a theme.

The Object Style Manager is available from the Welcome screen. You can create the style for all future projects there. However that will not yet apply that style for Software simulations, where the default for messages are captions, not shapes.

The best way is to save the Theme in a project which has the correct setup you want. That theme includes Object Styles, master slides, but also all Recording defaults! Many people ignore themes completely which is a pity. You can set that new theme as default theme, which means that all future projects will use that theme and have the correct shape style applied to software simulations.

Yes this sounds perfect.  I will get onto this now.  This has been a case of being rushed into a project, with an inexperienced team and finding out the issues along the way.  Next time it will be a theme set up before hand.

Thank you
