Hi everyone, I have been put on a project that needs work on virtual reality design. I have never worked on VR before and will have to upskill myself. Please advise me on how I go about it, any resources to read up or any specific pointers that I should be aware of for such VR projects.

The hardware requirements for VR projects make them clumsy at times. I prefer AR over VR.

Congratulations on the exciting opportunity to work on a VR project! One important aspect of VR design is understanding the user experience (UX) principles specific to VR environments. Start by familiarizing yourself with concepts like spatial audio, locomotion techniques, and user interaction in VR. Good luck!

Hey @DB_Brown i would suggest you to check out Udemy and Coursera for online courses and certification in VR. They have the latest and greatest offerings for 2023!

If you ask me, immersing yourself in VR experiences by trying out different VR applications and games will be of immense help. This firsthand experience will give you a better understanding of what works well in VR and inspire your own designs. My personal favorite for VR project authoring is Adobe Captivate 2019. Good luck with your VR project!

It is not clear to me whether you want to have information about the VR feature in Captivate or about VR design in general. Know that Captivate allows you to create a ‘VR’ project but that the possibilities are limited compared with real VR design tools. You can also insert 360 static and video slides in a normal project.  Here is one of the blog posts I wrote about the VR features:

If you really want a VR tool, maybe have a look at:

Perhaps an online course might be what is required. If you have a Premium membership with Linkedin, you can access Linkedin Learning (think Lynda.com).

Here are a couple of courses that should get you started.
