Hi,
I have started my e-learning journey recently and trying to upskill myself with needed software knowledge and understand the industry requirements. I have been a content documentation developer but not created any e learning course so far. I am looking for some insights on how the e-learning field looks.
Take advantage of your skills as content documentation developer, because some goals are similar: your focus was on those who needed the documentation, for eLearning your focus also on your learners. There are some differences of course: documentation can be ‘consumed’ whenever it is needed. You will have provided an easy way to find the required topics quickly. In eLearning you’ll need to restrict the topic(s) for a tutorial. Moreover you’ll be able to use not only text and images but also video, animations, audio (VERY important) and… interactivities. Although an eLearning tutorial is taken in an asynchronous setting, interactivity gives the learner more control and can make the difference between a boring bullet-rich and an engaging learning asset.
If you wonder what ‘interactivity’ means, maybe have a look at this blog post:

This post has an eLearning tutorial included, based on a presentation I gave for creative people (Adobe Community Experts) who wanted to know more about eLearning. It uses Captivate Classic, not the new version (which is at this moment lacking some features), but can be viewed on any device in landscape mode. It is rescalable. My general answer here is independent of the tool, I prefer the more professional Captivate Classic over the present new version (that may change in the future). I wanted to emphasize that you need to validate your skills!
Hi CrimsonR, thanks for reaching out and great to know about your headstart in the eLearning industry. You are in the right place – as in the Adobe eLearning community is a repository of everything you need to know about the elearning industry. Please look around take a read some of our blogs, elearning tutorials and you can even search the topic of your interest. I also wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about the the launch of the all-new Adobe Captivate. You can download the trial version from – https://www.adobe.com/products/captivate.html and play around. Let me know if you need something else.

Hi,
Is there any specific topic that i should choose for the sample project? I looked around in your community but did not find any output produced on the new Captivate.
Secondly, what do members get when they upload projects?
Looking forward to hear from you
Hey CrimsonR good to hear from you! Those are very good questions and let me help you with the answers:
- Topic for a sample project: I would suggest to choose a topic of your interest. I have observed that when members of the community develop projects that is close their heart, the output is good. Ex: We have had a member who developed a sample project on Wildlife. It was a VR project and the sound effects, 360deg view, etc – is still fresh in my memory. You mentioned that you are a content documentation specialist. You could perhaps develop a project on that – introduction–>role–>nature of work–>real life examples etc. Or, like i mentioned earlier, choose anything that you are good at / close to your heart. (automobiles, cookery, soft skills like communication skills, stress mgmt, etc)
- What do members get when they upload a project: Once the project is reviewed and published (along with the source file / .cpt) – this not only increases the engagement on the community it also grabs a lot of attention. You also get 200 points which can be redeemed. Additionally, if the project is good we can publish it on our official social media handles with due credits to the author by tagging them.
Finally, the experience of developing a sample project on the all-new Adobe Captivate and sharing your insights will be priceless!! Especially for someone who has started their eLearning journey.
Please feel free to reach out if you need any help while you work on the project. I will be more than happy to work with you along with our product/engg team as and when necessary.
Regards
