Can you turn off shortcut keys in Adobe Captivate 2019?
(2)

I am trying to record a Software Simulation where I need to click F3 in the program I am recording.  Captivate won’t let me since F3 is assigned as a shortcut.  Is there any way to turn this off?

I am using Adobe Captivate 2019 – 11.5.5.553

I am just doing Demo mode.  I literally just want to record how to navigate fields but when I click F3 in the application nothing happens.  The only way to navigate these fields it by clicking F3.  As soon as I stop recording it functions correctly and I am able to press F3 to navigate.  It is something within Captivate that is stopping me from navigating in the application as I am recording.

Indeed that is one of the hurdles when creating software simulations. Which mode are you using: Assessment or Training? Can you always mention the full version number of Captivate you are using as well?

Training and Assessment mode will add click boxes for the learner interaction. You can add a shortcut key to the click box but F3 is linked in most browser with ‘Find’. Problem is that taking out that functionality is different for each browser and you will not know which browser the learner will use.

A possible solution is to use several extra buttons, amongst which you have F3 and some other function keys and excute the ‘Go to Next Slide’ only when the F3 button is clicked. Another one is to ask your learner for a ‘cheat’ collaboration: instruct them to combine the correct function key with CTRL and add that combination shortcut key to the click box.
