When I attempt to download the newest version, it tells me my account is not supported. I work for a state agency.. could this be why or do I have to go through other channels?

Hey there! The new Captivate isn’t the upgraded version of Captivate 2019.The Captivate 2019 has been rebranded to Adobe Captivate Classic. The new Adobe Captivate is a completely new and reimagined tool released in 2023. Both are two different tools altogether. Currently, you can access both tools at the same time using the same subscription plan at no extra cost. You can download the new Adobe Captivate version using the link given below:

No it is a completely new version. You better forget all you knew in CP2019 and start from scratch: new UI, new terminology, new workflows and only focus on responsive projects. Lot of features are still missing in version 12.
If you want to use both Captivate Classic and New Captivate you need to update CP2019 to version 11.8.2 because the installation structure and file extensions need to change. If you don’t want to start with the New version I reommend to keep to version 11.5.5.553 because it has a lot less bugs.
