Intro
After my article introducing Bookmarking in (New and Classic) Captivate – eLearning (adobe.com) I am following up on my promise to explain more in depth. This blog post shows an example created in New Captivate. Next blog post will show the same example in Captivate Classic. Advantage of the New Captivate is the ability to create bookmarks on each content slide, with the exception of quiz slides. In the next post I will explain how to use Micro-navigation to replace the lack of that feature on all slides besides the Slide Video slides.
Scenario
After the title slide you’ll see:
- A list of explanations of the Steps. Appearance of each step is controlled by the user with a Continue button This slide uses bookmarks for that reason, but the original idea to use those bookmarks as navigation target from the last slide did not work. I am waiting on an answer from the team, logged a bug. Their use as event trigger has been used, but will be explained in a later blog.
- A video slide (slide video). On top you’ll find three buttons which allow to jump to bookmarks within the same slide. One of the buttons is the Replay button.
Example project
Next blogs
I will explain the use of these static bookmarks in the next blog post.
Same scenario will be shown for Captivate Classic in an example output, also followed by an explanatory blog//
Dynamic bookmarks are only possible in Captivate Classic at this moment. I will explain its importance in the next post.
Using bookmarks as frame event triggers which is only possible for static bookmarks, and one of the improvements in New Captivate will be illuutrated in the last post of this soap about bookmarks.
It is bad that jump to a bookmark on another slide is not functional if that bookmark is already used as a frame event trigger. Dynamic bookmarks are still missing.
