Highlight boxes and click boxes in Software Simulations
(1)

Hi, I am trying to get used to the new Captivate, I made the transition from the 2019 version, but having a really hard time. When creating software simulations, it used to be possible to add additional highlight boxes, shapes and click boxes. However, I don’t see how I can do that with this new version. Can someone point me in the right direction, please? Thank you!

You should always mention the full version number you are using, which you can find under Help, About Captivate. New Captivate is now at version 12.3.0.12.

To be honest, my recommendation is to continue using Captivate Classic for software simulations because in the new Captivate you have a lot of limitations. Those are due to the fact that the ‘normal’ projects in that new version do not have the ‘old’ items like click boxes and highlight boxes. Workflow is in its core identical, but you are bumping on one of the limitations.  Once you want to add other content slides to the project, you automatically get a responsive project, and that has catastrophic results if you need Training/Assessment modes. All may get better in the future, and hopefully we’ll get Video Demo back as well. That is much better alternative for the sims in Demo mode due to many reasons.
