I’m used to the old way in Captivate of recording new simulations anywhere in an existing project. I don’t see how I can do that in this new version of Captivate. Thank you advance.
Not sure if the prevous answer is what you want, because it points to an existing (responsive) project, not an existing simulation to which you want to add additional slides. Sorry, I didn’t check this out yet because I keep to Captivate Classic exclusively when I have to create software simulations. From the Help documentation you should be able to choose a mode when inserting slides, which seems not to be logical when the existing simulation is already in a mode. And what happens with the resolution? From the user manual I deduct that it would be possible to have a mix of sim slides in different modes, without haviing to copy/paste? Is that indeed the case?
Inserting a simulation in an existing responsive project is also bit troublesome because in its core the sim slides are NOT responsive (answer I got from a webinar about the new version), but automatic panning/zooming is introduced when you switch to a tablet or mobile device. That is catastrophic for an Assessment or Training sim.
Well… the new version is meant to be intuitive, isn’t it?
I am very sad because of the lack of clear communication from Adobe. However that is not new, I started my blog in 2008 to fill in all the gaps in the user manual. Due to my past as professor, this reminds me of colleagues who didn’t dare to answer a difficult question with ‘I don’t know the answer right away, but I will look it up and be back possibly with an answer’. That was my way reacting, and my students never lacked respect because of that type of answers.
Please, Adobe, be honest in the communication. No one will blame you the same way as it happens now due to hiding too much information. That has been my pleading since almost two decades. I am too honest (says marketing) but try to help Captivate users for free with thousands of answers everywhere. I am not an expert on the new version at all, and hope it will improve in the future but at this moment it is impossible to use for the type of clients I have as consultant.
Thanks for writing to us.
After you’ve captured a simulation, you c an record additional slides by selecting the Capture button on the left toolbar.
All additional slides will be a part of the existing project.
Please check the docs.
Thanks,
Saurav
