As an emerging instructional designer with a background in educational psychology, I’ve always been fascinated by how people learn. Recently, I decided to stop researching and start building — even before I had access to industry-standard tools like Adobe Captivate.

To get hands-on practice, I created my first eLearning experience using Genially: an escape room that teaches workplace compliance through scenario-based puzzles. The process pushed me to think about learner engagement, pacing, and flow, all through the lens of interactivity and accessibility. It also helped me build confidence with visual design, layout, and basic learning experience structure.

While Genially offered a helpful starting point, I quickly realized the need for more robust tools that support branching, SCORM export, and simulation features, which is why I’m now working to gain access to Adobe Captivate.

This blog marks the beginning of that transition. I look forward to learning more about Captivate and sharing my next project using Adobe tools. If you’re just starting out, too, don’t wait for everything to be perfect — build with what you have and grow from there.

Thanks for reading,
