You can use Premiere Pro to mix both landscape and portrait videos in one project. Rather than having black bands on the left and right of the portrait video, you can follow this effect to fill in the whole screen.
If you watch the news, you’ll often see the effect that I’m showing you in Premiere Pro. If the news channel is using video from the public and it was shot in portrait mode, then they will use the same footage to fill in the background. It’s a simple process and has a familiar look as many people are used to seeing this in the news.
