A prescription opioid painkiller called 100 mg of tramadol is used to treat moderate to severe pain. It modifies the sense of pain by attaching itself to opioid receptors in the brain and preventing serotonin and norepinephrine from being reabsorbed. For chronic pain problems including arthritis, post-operative rehabilitation, or nerve pain, the 100 mg dosage is frequently given.
