I’m back with the next type of screen. We learned how to create a Tabbed Screen couple of weeks back. Now let’s see how we can create a Click-Reveal Text screen in Adobe Captivate 5. Before we get into the steps, let me show you how the screen would look like:

Looks good? Want to add such a screen in your course? Go ahead and follow these simple steps:

Let me know if you found this post useful or have any questions by leaving a comment on this post. I would also like to know if there’s some specific type of screen/interaction example you are looking for.

Happy Captivating! 🙂

Gracias por el gran aporte. Muy bueno el borrador. Sólo tendré que adecuarlo para ponerlo en mi sitio. Ya estaba rompiendome el cerebro, sin saber por donde comenzar 😀

Dr.Pooja Jaisingh, is it possible to create a pop up question from a quiz that i had a student answer at the beginning of my course? I would like the questions to appear throughout the course.

Yes, you can create a custom quiz question in a pop-up dialog and make it available for the rest of the project. Then show and hide it based on a click of a button.

Thank you for your reply. However, I didn’t mention that I would like 5 or 10 questions to appear at the beginning of my students course and have them answer either true and false or multiple choice questions and then, have them “appear” or pop-up throughout the course and have them get the answers correct based only on how they had answered the questions in the beginning of the course, (similar to student verification questions). You see, I cannot create the quiz to have the same answers for all of the students taking the course. Can a quiz be customized for each student for verification purposes?

Does this work for Captivate 7? I have followed these instructions several times and cannot get my next button to appear.

Hi there, I just downloaded the trial version of version 5.5 (upgraded from 4). I can only see the old image buttons from Captivate 4, and I don’t see the lovely one you used (click_up). Did you create that button yourself?

I am glad to see that Adobe fixed the problem in Captivate 4 that made the timeline continue when a button was pushed, no matter what. In creating similar interactions to this, you had to use some other variables to ensure that the project just didn’t start back up and move to the next slide, which was a time consuming pain.

Now…my question…I just downloaded the 5.5 upgrade trial version, and I am hoping my work buys it. Do you know if there is a way to combine this type of interaction with some kind of animation effect so that the text can fly in or otherwise appear in a more flashy way than just popping in? I am not having much luck.

Never mind. Figured it out. 🙂 Just had an inspiration. I do like how Adobe improved the advanced interaction functionality. Much, much cleaner and easier to use.
