Creating common Object Styles for all project

I assume by now most of Adobe Captivate 5 users already know how to create a style and use them in project.

Did you ever wished that  “some particular styles” were available in all the new project that you create?  Or did you ever feel that after creating new project, the default/predefined set of styles that you get, are not enough?

So how do you get better styles (and more styles)  in each newly  created project?

The most common answer would be “create custom styles,  export them and import it into every new project that you create” right?

But there is another (and easy) way to do the same thing:

1. Launch Adobe Captivate 5.

2. Without opening any project, launch OSM (Object Style Manager) .

3. Ensure that title of Dialog read as “Object Style manager- Captivate Application”

4. Now create some new styles say “style 1” and modify existing style say “[Default Caption Style]”.

5. Close OSM.

After this , next time whenever(even after restarting Adobe captivate) you create any new project, You would notice that you already have “style1”  in this new project and you also have the modified “[Default Caption Style]”.

How do you set an object style for rectangles? I have not been able to find this.

Hi Amy, ‘Object styles’ are not supported for drawing shapes (like rectangles), mainly because it conflicts with the Drawing-Toolbar’s preferences. For example- if there is a stroke color and fill color that is currently highlighted in the drawing tool bar, it is those colors that are applied to any new drawing object added.

How can I sync the three Captivate users in the group so they have the same styles in their OSM? Is that a manual process as well?

This is nice but it is unfortunate that you cannot import a style without a project being open. I created my style, now I want to move it into the OSM but it appears I will have to recreate it. Am I missing something?
