Creating Spry Menus in Adobe Captivate 5.5 Courses

When we are working on a large course with many topics and sub-topics, it’s a good idea to include all the topics along with sub-topics on the menu page. But this can result into a content heavy screen and doesn’t give a neat look. In such a scenario we can add Spry Menu functionality on the menu page, where when you hover over the topic, the sub-topics appear and become accessible. Here’s an example screen with a Spry Menu. Hover over Menu A to see the hidden submenus.

Let’s see how we can create such a menu page. There are different ways to get this functionality. In this example, I have used a combination of Rollover Slidelets and Buttons. There are two Rollover Slidelets, one to show the Buttons and the other to hide the Buttons.

Here’s a demonstration depicting the steps in detail:

Hope this is helpful!

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I am trying to copy the menu I created onto multiple slides, but captivates re-names my buttons so the advanced actions no longer work. Do you know of any way to maintain an object name?

I liked. I did a couple things differently. I chose a button image from the image choices and i added roll over text to describe where the button leads. Thanks.

Can you provide a more direct link to the tutorial? The page flat out wouldn’t load in IE, and neither of the movies loaded in Firefox.
