I have had this thought/question bouncing around my head for the last few days, “Should I create a personal Adobe eLearning community profile or just continue using my work profile?”
Let me explain why this has been nagging at me. Currently I log into the eLearning community with my work adobe account.
I want to become more involved in submitting material and assisting when possible as I think this is an invaluable resource and forum.
My concern stems from the fact that should I ever leave this position, since, as we all know, nothing in life in guaranteed to last forever and the only certainty is that change happens, I don’t know if there is currently a way I can transfer my points and content to a personal account.
Should I start fresh with a new account and just do all my activity on it and scrap what points I have currently accrued?
I pose this question both for personal reasons, but also to bring this issue to light for other people like myself who may put all this effort into building a great community with great content but potentially risk “loosing profile access” to their content if they are connecting using a corporate account should they ever leave that position.
Thoughts and comments would be appreciated.
p.s. I posted this as a blog because I feel it is more of a discussion for the community that could bring awareness and assistance to others.
I’m in the same situation. I have a corporate and personal account. I use the personal account for all community functions.
I think your stated concerns are valid. Today’s world is highly dynamic and you never know where you may find yourself. I would start fresh with a personal account and build reputation in the environment you control. I think you could build your 231+ points back in a matter of days.
Your first action in the new account could be a feature request enabling a different login for the community feature!
