As elearning creators we understand the benefits of creating elearning for the learners of an organisation, business or even the public and I’ve noticed it can be easy for us to stop learning ourselves.
Lately at work I’ve been going out of my comfort zone as a developer, by exploring more of what Captivate can really do. We still use version 8 at work right now and even after 2 years of using it every day, I’ve realised I have so much to learn still
Whilst I do lots of similar tasks every day, there are still areas I’ve never used. An example of this is Aggregator projects, which I only spotted by taking the time to explore the different menus that I’ve never looked into properly. After doing a quick search online, I realised it could possibly save a huge amount of time for the type of courses I work on.
We make very long courses at work by breaking them up within the team and then bring them all back together into one project, which has always been a case of copy and pasting them back into one final project. If I can figure out I can do this better with Aggregator projects, my bosses with love me . This also another reason to keep learning new skills, even if we are everyday users, there’s always something new we can try.
I always loved learning when I was younger, (28 now ) and now I’ve noticed I’ve let myself go a little, with my skills , it’s time to start building my knowledge muscles up again.
So I leave you with this.
I challenge you to get out of your comfort zone with your day-to-day developing and explore the different menus, maybe an option you’ve never used before or you might just want to see how far your can really push Captivate. Give it a go and see what surprises you.
Let me know how you get on.
Luke
