Hi there,
I installed CP 2017 on Mac OSX with El Capitan 10.11.6 yesterday and I noticed some trouble with the ability to edit font sizes.
See inlcuded screenshot
At first, I was thinking that I must have accidentally hidden some sort of text-edit feature. But after looking around in the Preferences and checking
resources online, I couldn’t figure out WHERE the text edit features are. As you can see, the Character is selectable along with the usual
settings, but the Text Size option is missing and you can see that to the right the properties window seems to be cut off. (Character name field)
Can anyone help me with this? It seems to be a bug or something. I can’t imagine that one has to go over some special menu just to be able
to change the font size.
Any help is appreciated… thank you very much.
Best regards,
Steven R.
I am having the same problem. I just spent an hour on the phone with a technical rep from Captivate. I allowed him access to my computer and he tried for over an hour to try to get it to work. Changing the screen resolution doesn’t work. I finally had to end our session bc I had to get back to work, so I’m still unresolved. He said they had had problems with High Sierra (I couldn’t preview anything in the browser either; had to download an updated captivate version that hasn’t yet been realized in order to fix that problem.) Please let me know if you have figured out a resolution to the issue. Thanks.
Hi,
The text size edit option will be right next to the tab which says “Regular”.You are not able to see the option as you cannot completely see your Property window due to your Machine resolution. You can change the resolution by:System preferences->Displays->Display->Scaled/Default(based on what suits you the best).
You can also change the position of Property window by enabling panel undocking: Edit->Preferences->Enable custom workspace.

Charu
Hi there,
Thanks a lot for the reply. I was on vacation for two weeks, so I was offline during that time.
The resolution did not do the trick, unfortunately. The property window on the right side is still cut off.
I now saw that the System Requirements seemed to have slipped our minds; we noticed that Captivate
needs MAC OSX 10.12.3….we have OS 10.11.6…. we installed Captivate on another Mac with newer OS
and TADAAA….it worked, the Font-Properties are displayed correctly and I can now see and change
the font size!!!
Unfortunately, I’m NOT allowed to update the OS on this Mac here due to internal restrictions in our team.
But nevertheless thank you very much for helping me out with this problem.
Have a good time. Cheers,
Steven R.
Hi Steven,
Could you please try the following:
1. Does your font have a very long name ? Try using fonts with small names.
2. Clear your preferences (Go to Applications, Adobe Captivate and run the “CleanPreferencesMac” file in the utils directory)
3. Try using Captivate in Expert Mode. (Go to Preferences, and Enable Custom Workspaces. And then Restart Cp 2017.
Can you see if this works for you?
Thanks,
Mohana
Sorry, was on vacation and therefore offline. Back again and working “hard”… 😉
1. the font name is the good old Helvetica, so that shouldn’t be an issue. But your idea
makes absolute sense; too long font names could have been an issue.
2. went to the folder and ran the “CleanPreferencesMac” in the utils directory and quickly
regretted it; Captivate went crazy, saying that Adobe can’t find my subscription of
Captivate and terminated the start up. I had to uninstall and download and install CP 2017 all new again.
Working fine again, but just as before, the font properties on the right side of the window remain cut off!!!
(and it’s for sure NOT due to monitor resolution, I checked that and it didn’t make a difference)
3. Expert Mode also didn’t help, value for the font size in the properties window still cut off.
Please see below (in the next answer) what I did…. it looks like the System Requirements are the problem.
Installed CP 2017 on another MAC with much newer OS and it works just fine.
But thanks anyway for the help and have a good time.
Cheers,
Steven R.
