Oct 4th 2017 is an important date for Pooja Jaisingh and I.
With the release of our book “Mastering Adobe Captivate 2017”, the project we have been working on for the last 6 month is now complete.
- Dr. Pooja Jaisingh and I are the proud co-authors of this book.
- Paul Wilson and  Alice Acker have reviewed the book
- Tridib Roy Chowdhury has authored the foreword
- The editorial team at Packt Publishing has ensured the quality of the editorial process.
This was an amazing team of exceptional experts to work with! Many of these people are active members of this very community. We are confident that this book will be a great ressource for all the Captivate users
It takes you through the production of three pieces of eLearning content.
First, you will learn how to create a typical interactive Captivate project. This will give you the opportunity to review all Captivate objects one by one and uncover the application’s main tools. Then, you will use the built-in capture engine of Captivate to create an interactive software simulation and a Video Demo that can be uploaded to your YouTube channel or published as an MP4 video. Finally, you will approach the advanced responsive features of Captivate to create a project that can be viewed on any device. At the end of the book, you will empower your workflow and projects with the most advanced features of the application, including variables, advanced actions, using Captivate with other applications, and more.
This book is an advanced tutorial, containing all the assets required to build its sample projects. Self-exploration is encouraged through extra exercises, experimentation, and external references.
It covers the following topics
- Chapter 01 – Getting Started with Adobe Captivate
- Chapter 02 – Working with Standard Objects
- Chapter 03 – Working with Multimedia
- Chapter 04 – Working with the Timeline and Other Useful tools
- Chapter 05 – Working with Interactive Objects

Happy teaching with Adobe Captivate 2017
I’ve made a first pass through the book and confirm that it would have been EXTREMELY helpful to have when I first started working with Captivate (4+ years ago). I like that it starts from step 0 in terms of introducing a new user to the Captivate interface and practices, but does go into significant depth as well. The instructions are clearly written and illustrated with appropriate screenshots. There are extensive accompanying example files to work with (that I haven’t gone through yet.) It certainly seems like a comprehensive overview of Captivate.
