Hi all.

I’m having trouble opening a file in Captivate 9, which someone has shared with me.

They have shared it with me via sharepoint, which means I get an email with a link to click on. This is a client of mine and I’ve never had issues opening shared Captivate 9 files before. Below is a screen capture of the message i get.

Adobe Captivate Error Message

I’ve done some research online and have seen posts with steps on how to fix it, but because this is a file, which has been shared with me, I can’t do most of the suggestions.

Has anyone come across this and was able to fix it?

Hi,

I am a desktop user. I am unable to open any Captivate 2019 files created by other captivate 2019 users. I noticed that none of team members who use desktops cannot open the 2019 files created by other users, while the laptop users can open the files. I attached the error message that I get when I try to open the file. Please suggest a solution to this. Thank you.

I know this post is 18 months old at this point, but the link to dcache.zip is not working and I’m experiencing the same issue with Captivate 2019 files. Is the Dcache utility still alive somewhere?

Thanks TT and Mayank. How do I use Dcache. I’m not sure what I need to do.

Hi Luke,

Since the file is shared with you then I believe you do not have the cache files on your system so recovering the project using the steps mentioned at the below link might not work:

https://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/kb/opening-corrupted-captivate-project.html

Apart from that if the same project is opening fine at the client’s end then I would request you to as the client to upload the project again as something might have got wrong while uploading/downloading the project.

You may also trying resetting Captivate preferences and try again:

1.Close Captivate.
2.Reset the preferences. To reset it: Go to: “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 2017 x64\utils” and double click on “CleanPreferencesWin.bat” file.

3. Relaunch Captivate again and try to open the project using File > Open option.

Note: Please make sure that you are not directly opening the file from the Network location. Copy the project to the local drive and then open it.

Hi TT, no I never got it working. Even tried it on a different laptop, so no idea what’s happening. Will get in touch with Adobe and see if they have any ideas. Will keep you updated.

I did get it to work late Friday afternoon after I contacted Adobe tech and they sent me a working file of Dcache that installed. Once installed it did what it promised and my Captivate file opened with all assets intact.
