Quiz attempts

Hi Everybody,

I’m working on an eLearning that will have a quiz at the end. The user should be able to finish all 10 question. If the user doesn’t score enough points, it should be able to start the quiz again and after that they have another attempt. I set the attempts, but it checks the attempts per slide. So you have the attempts immediately on the slide but I want them to run the quiz completely and than have the option to do the quiz again.

The eLearning will go into Moodle and also here I can set attempts. My question is, if it is possible to have the user do the quiz and at the end have the option to do the quiz again and after 3 attempts, they should not be able to do the quiz any more.

The client also likes to mix questions. So 5 questions will always be the same and the other 5 will be selected out of 30 questions. So with every attempt 5 of the 10 questions should be different.
What would be the best way to set this up? Or should I have Moodle take care of this?

Thanks in advance (i’m running the latest version of Captivate)

You have to be aware that the 5 random questions will remain the same for a new attempt on quiz level when it is in the same session. Only when you restart the course a new selection will be made.

As I will be running this in Moodle. I think I should than force close the eLearning so that the user can retry by opening the eLearning again. This way it will add the new questions or should I do this differently?

You have set the number of tries on a slide basis which the attempts at that question. What you need to do is set the number of attempts for the quiz in the Quiz Preference settings > Pass or Fail.

When you do that you a Retake button can be added to the quiz results slide that would allow the learner redo the quiz as many times as you set in the Quiz Preferences.

In order to have the quiz have different questions you need to set up a question pool of the questions that you want to randomize for the quiz.

Then create the quiz with 5 questions that will be the same and intersperse the random questions slides in the quiz and draw from the question pool.

You can set this all up in Captivate.

Sounds good. I will play around with the settings. One question. As I can also set attempts in Moodle and I do want to have Moodle reporting the attempts. Does your solution work with Moodle? Or only when using outside of Moodle? Or should do some settings in Moodle as-well?
