Captivate 2017 – Using Actionscript vs Javascript
May 7, 2018

We are using an On Exit Action that runs an actionscript to run a javascript to close the project. Is there any necessary reason, or advantage, to run this action in this manner, or can we just set the Action to run the javascript?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you both for your responses. Yes, I meant Advanced Actions, not AS.

Indeed, Advanced actions have at this moment one big advantage: they will be converted to ActionScript if you publish to SWF, or to JavaScript if you publish to HTML. Best of two worlds, and much easier for maintenance than pure JS or AS. Be sure to check out shared actions as well, have even more flexibility and can save you a lot of time once you master them.

Dewey, by actionscript do you mean Captivate advance actions? And you are adding a JavaScript inside an Advanced Action window? if this is the case you are doing almost the same thing. Captivate Advance Actions also works on JavaScript and if you will set an Captivate action to “Exit”, it will apparently do the same thing. Let me know if I am assuming it correctly. Regards
