How to Change Mobile View without Disturbing Desktop View

Hi,
I have Adobe Captivate 2017 and am new to the software. I watched a training on Adobe 8, but I am still experiencing some roadblocks. Particularly, when I switch to a mobile view (iPhone or tablet) from desktop view the layout is off. When I change the layout to fit a particular mobile view, it also changes my desktop view. How do I prevent from this happening? I would like to work on a slide and then modify each mobile view as I go along. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

You were creating a Fluid Boxes project? Lot of users are confused when starting with them because of the dropdown list to the left. Those are not breakpoints at all, just to see how it looks on different devices. Editing will always been done in the primary, and the way Fluid boxes are set up will define the layout on lower screens.

Captivate 2017, contrary to CP8 and CP9 has TWO ways of creating a responsive project: Fluid Boxes and Breakpoint Views. Since the first workflow is chosen by default, you probably are working in Fluid Boxes. That is a totally different workflow from Breakpoint Views. You cannot change the individual layouts depending on the browser resolution at all, which is possible with Breakpoint views. You could have a look at my comparison:

Do you allow me a tip: since you are a newbie, please start with developing a non-responsive project to master the basic skills needed in Captivate before tackling a responsive project which adds more difficulties.

Thank you for your response and the link to your comparison. Great information for the “aggressive dive head first” kinda of person I am. 🙂 I will attempt to continue with the responsive project in the breakpoint mode.

Could you please share some screenshots and explain the behavior. Ideally, Mobile and Tablet view should not disturb the desktop view. Thanks
