Cannot tab to Quiz slide radio buttons

We have recently had issues with a couple of courses that will not allow us to tab to the radio buttons on a quiz slide.  We lose visible focus and  hitting the “enter” key to figure out where we are does not produce a consistent result.

If I cheat and use the mouse to get me on the radio buttons, I find I can move between them using the arrow keys but I still don’t have focus and, again, don’t have consistant results using the tab and enter keys.

Does anyone have any ideas?  I’ve read a number of posts on 508 and tabbing in this forum, but honestly haven’t seen any solutions.

I’m using Captivate 2017 and have previewing / publishing HTML5.

Thanks.

Jay

Tab focus should not be lost no matter what. It seems focus does work better when you publish to SWF, but in 2018 no one should really be doing that anymore.

I’ve not found a solution for the HTML5 output other than to find another authoring tool. Captivate 2019 has not changed the behavior for me.

I’m having the same issue. The multiple choice and True/False questions are supposed to be the most basic accessible interactions, and consistency is a real issue! I discovered by chance that if I typed “A” the screen reader took me to the top answer choice in the list on a quiz slide. From there, I could use the up and down arrows to move between the choices then click the spacebar to select the answer I wanted. Unfortunately, nothing worked after that to submit the answer.
The process (as I’ve read on the Adobe forum) is supposed to be:
1. Set publish settings to (check) “Restrict keyboard tabbing to slide items only” and (uncheck) “Hide selection rectangle for slide items in HTML5”
2. In the published course, tab into the quiz slide–title should read first, then quiz question (doesn’t work for me…JAWS reads my URL then course title, then moves down to playbar buttons)
3. Tab into answer choices, then use arrow buttons to move up or down answer choices.
4. Select answer choice by clicking spacebar
5. Click tab to lock in answer choice

Anyone else have a consistent fix for this?

Thank you for your information; the checkboxes in “Publish Settings” were two that I hadn’t found yet.

I sometimes wonder if the disconnect isn’t with out 508 tester. He knows the procedure for testing, but that’s not the same as someone taking the course that actually needs the technology. I have a feeling I’m going to mark the course with “known issues” and then wait and see if there are complaints.

Thanks again!

The same problem in my project. I found out how to use javascript for focusing on radio buttons but on review slides there is no way how to point on correct and incorrect icons and reading correct and incorrect answers
