Create a Menu Section and Progress Bar to Use in Course with Flat Blue Summer Collection 2018 Layout?

Hello All:
Can anyone direct me to where I can find or how to create a menu section and progress bar for a responsive course with about 65 slides using the Flat Blue Summer Collection 2018 layout or another suitable course layout or starter?  I see many starters and layouts but none of them includes a menu section or a progress bar section.

Thanks

Fantastic! Thank you for the instruction on how to look at the problem. The movie helped. Pushed me into thinking about using a user variable. Again I can’t thank you enough for your quick clear and great help with this problem. M.

It is not very wise to use a template (cptl file) in Captivate, because it leads to many problems.
THe actions you need to create for a dashboard are not very complicated. You will have to create one user variable for each chapter. When returning to the dashboard that variable is toggled to indicate that the chapter has been viewed. You can use the On Enter action of the dashboard to check the variables and ‘do’ something special when they all have been toggled to active value.
You can use a multistate objects to create a progress bar as well. Have a look at this movie:

Hi: Lieve:

Thanks much for the information! If I can’t find a template, that all I would have to do is copy, paste and slight modifications, I would have to go with this approach. I also would like to do something special after completion of all the chapters by the learner. I think that I would need a bit more direction in order to incorporate the TOC for the progress bar. However I will think about that as well. Again, thank you so much.

The first question about the dashboard is pretty simple. I planned to write this out again in a blog post to take into account the upgrades. But you’ll probably not have to time to wait. Do you want to ‘do’ something special when all chapters have been viewed? If not, simply create shape button and add the Visited state which is an Inbuilt State in CP2017. Make sure to check the option ‘Retain state on slide revisit’ and you’ll have your physical clue. The shape buttons can be used to navigate to the first slide of a chapter.
Why not have a look at the TOC? I often use that for the purpose of giving the learner feedback about what has been done. You can create a progress bar but that will show exactly what has been done.

Hi Lieve:

Thanks for your time and quick response! I am looking for a dashborard “Menu Section” : a slide which has buttons to be clicked by the user to navigate to a chapter and having a physical clue when returning to the slide were the chapters have been viewed.

In terms of a progress bar I am looking for something that will show the learner where she or he is within the course after completing sections and knowledge checks. Again, thanks very much.

It is not very clear what that layout means, but if it is a Theme, the colors and branding should be included. Do you mean what I call a dashboard by ‘Menu section’: a slide which has buttons to be clicked by the user to navigate to a chapter, and having a physical clue when returning to that slide which chapters have been viewed? Can you give more details?
As for progress bar: I suppose the default progress bar from the playbar is not what you want, since you have a non-linear course. Did you check the way that the inbuilt TOC tracks visited chapters/slides? Or do you want something else?
