Adobe Captivate – Create CSV Questions Using a Macro
October 18, 2018
I’ve been an eLearning designer and developer since 2005, specializing in the creation of interactive and engaging learning experiences. In 2015, I launched my own eLearning design business and began producing Adobe Captivate video tutorials on my YouTube channel, CaptivateTeacher, to support clients and fellow developers. This content not only helped me grow my business globally—it also introduced me to a wider community of aspiring Captivate users who now turn to me for training and mentorship. Today, I provide both online and onsite Adobe Captivate training, empowering others to build effective eLearning with confidence. I’m proud to be part of the Adobe eLearning Community, sharing knowledge, collaborating with other developers, and contributing to the growth of this platform.

There is a problem with the created CSV as I discussed in my blog post about using it for localisation. When importing the created CSV to a Excel for localising, and export aagain, the last fields in each question are corrupted, which makes the CSV unusable. Hence I had to get back to the normal GIFT-import.

Well, it’s Captivate so there’s always something.

I have been teaching spreadsheets and macros for many, many years and this is really something that should not happen.  Moreover the CSV import is more limited than the GIFT import (partial points). CSV should offer more since it is a native feature, not less. There are several plugings for free that allow to use a XLS file to create GIFT files. Reason why I am not enthusiastic for this feature at all.
