Using Captivate 2017, I created a computer-based training program (cbt) that has 7 chapters, each chapter ends with 3 to 5 graded quiz questions that are totaled to derive a comprehensive score for all 7 chapters. Whenever a user completes a chapter, leaves in the middle of the next course and returns to complete the cbt, Captivate does not retain their previous quiz score. Captivate does return user to the chapter that he/she left. How do I get Captivate to retain scores from completed chapters’ quizzes?

Sounds like it might be best to break it up into 7 CBTs given the brief description.
Your question is not totally clear to me. Are those chapters in one Captivate file or in multiple files? Do you use a LMS or not?
