Brief article about the UI/UX design I created for the eLearning hub of a large Australian university.
In this article I’d like to briefly talk about an eLearning project I completed last month.
What the project was all about
Over a period of three month I was hired by a large Australian university to design the UI (user interface) and UX (user experience) for their brand-new eLearning hub. The eLearning hub was to help students improve their study skills (time management, referencing, essay writing etc.). The goal of the project was to design an interactive prototype which could then be used for user testing with actual students. Furthermore the eLearning hub was to include information and resources for teaching professional and postgraduate researchers.
What I did
As the sole UX/UI Designer and with a small team of developers, team leader and subject matter experts I created an eLearning hub that incorporated the universities existing brand, while still keeping the design fresh and vibrant. With a special emphasis on the user experience, usability, content structure and navigation I designed the UI for the prototype which was later tested on students. In terms of software I mainly used Adobe CC, Sketch and InVision. InVision was also used as a tool for creating the interactive prototype with clickable links and screen overlays were applicable.
Results
The prototype was well received by internal stakeholders as well as our main target audience, the students. Further funding will now have to be obtained to further develop the eLearning hub in 2019.
