In this video, I have tried to summarize different ways of using audio in Captivate.

To get more in-depth coverage on this topic of audio in Cp, I would recommend all to visit the blog of Legend Lieve Weymeis .

just to add… we can also add(attach) Audio to the State of the object (Ref: http://blog.lilybiri.com/3-audio-tricks)

have also look at very nice example on Audio to the State of the object –http://www.lilybiri.com/published/DD_ObjectActions/index.html

The multiple ways of adding audio to Captivate, and the differences in their behavior when a pause or pausing point is available have resulted in much more posts on my blog. Thanks anyway t to mention those….

It said ‘cannot be paused nor STOPPED’. That is wrong. You can stop the background audio completely on a slide. Pausing is not possible. You can have an automatic decrease of volume on slides which have slide audio.

Not everything is correct in this video.  Sorry, but feel compelled to tell this. Just some examples.

Background audio can be STOPPED on slides. But background music is not at all recommend for eLearning. I never use it at all.

Audio is a critical factor in any eLearning course (I am a musician). I prefer largely to record it outside of Captivate with a dedicated Audio editor (Audition), a decent microphon and import the different audio clips into the Library.

It is OK to publish low-level tutorials for newbies, but avoid confusion, please!

your input is of great value to us …. you need not say ‘sorry’ at all… pointing toward fact is always of more value. thank you

I will check again my video, but if I am not wrong, I also said same thing in this video…  “background music can be disabled for a particular slide but can neither be stopped nor can be started from slide of our choice….

I always have respect for your view.

Thanks for pointing to my blog. Understanding how audio can be paused by either a pausing point or by the Pause command (from the playbar or from a custom Play./Pause button) is one of the biggest challenges for most developers.
