Storyboard of my first captivate project. The content will be populated based on this progression. In the current form, it is the framework of an eLearning experience to teach individuals about streaming video games using Twitch and Streamlabs+OBS. I am looking into making interactive images, videos, and simulations about the setup and controls of the different software. I am looking for quick hit tutorials on adding interactive appear/disappear information to various mediums to take it from the text/video sit and get to a more exploratory experience.
The big component I haven’t found yet was looking to see if there is a way to track simulation clicks like a passive quiz, as in “how many times were components clicked by users before the right button in the software simulation was selected?” Not sure if this is a feature or not to gain passive information on potential learning gaps.
If your reference is the MS user interface, and you like it (I don’t), please keep with Articulate. But if you want great reusability (Library, shared actions), easy roundtripping with other Adobe apps, real responsive projects, VR projects, easy interactive video workflow, better software simulations, give Captivate a try but forget about PPT interface.
Here is a link to a post I created based on my over 10 years experience with answering questions and offering Captivate training:

Good luck! I am always around here (when not asleep). Do not hesitate to ask questions.
I am able to see both comments Lieve, I appreciate the feedback and insights! You mentioned having some write-ups on strategies and I will be sure to read them over.
Is it normal to set slides with a generically long play length to make sure it doesn’t auto advance or is there a way to turn off slide advancement without clicking a control button?
One of the basic skills in Captivate, probably the number 1, is to understand the Timeline. I often see when being contacted for an advanced personalised training, that the trainee first is not fully understanding the Timeline at all.
Never extend the duration of a slide because you want to offer more time to view that slide, bad practice. Interactivity means giving control to the learner. It is very easy to pause each slide at its end, one of the tweaks I explained in this blog post:
http://blog.lilybiri.com/easy-timeline-tweaks
Just FYI: I asked many certified developers if they knew how to do this? No one could answer and it is very simple.
OK, this time my comment was accepted.
Let us start with two short tipes. If you need more, or want some links, let me know. I will not impose myself, it is your learning time you should focus on.
- If this storyboard was created in Draft, it will be a responsive course with Fluid Boxes when transferred to Captivate. Not a good idea to start as newbie with a FB project, because it adds an extra level. Since you’ll want to insert interactive video, software sims, I would recommend to start with a non-responsive project.
- An image cannot be interactive, you need to fill a shape with that image and convert the shape to a shape button. Have a blog for the workflow.
- All interactive objects can be scored. Check the Advanced Interaction panel (F9).
- You choose for Branching, which is great! I have blogs about the 3 most important stumbling blocks to conquer: Timeline (cradle of all interactivityà, Quizzing and Themes (for consistent design aligned with the stylesheet of your company).
Created a long answer, but was deleted. Something is awry with the site.
Will try first a shorter comment. I consider Captivate as being a thoroughbred, needing time to tame it and get its performance to the highest level. Be patient with yourself and with CP. Maybe some quick videos will get you to create a course, based on this good storyboard, really doubt it however.
