Jan 31st 2019 will remain as a day to remember for both myself and Pooja Jaisingh as it is the day our second book has been published by Packt Publishing.

You can grab your copy (eBook or print copy) from

Mastering Adobe Captivate 2019 Cover“Mastering Adobe Captivate 2019” is the fifth edition of the “Mastering Adobe Captivate ” series and the second that Pooja and I co-author.  Once again, we have been privileged to work alongside some of the greatest experts of this very community.

  • Special thanks to our friend Kirsten Rourke for being such an thorough reviewer.
  • Thanks to the 15 members of the Captivate community that have accepted to be featured at the end of each chapter
  • Thanks to Allen_Partridge for authoring such a nice foreword

The community has always been at the heart of the “Mastering Adobe Captivate” series, and this fifth edition makes no exception!

In this last edition, we have included the latest features of Adobe Captivate 2019. There is for example an entire chapter on Virtual Reality projects as well as a new section about Interactive Videos in the chapter on Interactivity. The chapter on Responsive Project has been upgraded to include the latest enhancements of the Fuild Box 2.0 of Adobe Captivate 2019.

We have also removed a few sections about legacy objects that are not supported in Flash. Since the Flash player will cease to be supported next year, we thought it was time to remove these objects from the book. For example, we have removed the sections on Text Animation, Rollover Captions, Rollover Images, etc.. We have also updated the exercise files accordingly.

By popular demand, we have added in the Variables and Advanced Actions chapter, a more advanced section on using JavaScript in Adobe Captivate.

So after 5 month of hard work, we are very proud to have come up with the most comprehensive book ever on Adobe Captivate.

Who this book is for?

  • If you are a Captivate newbie, this book will teach you the features of Adobe Captivate in a friendly step-by-step manner.
  • If you are a Captivate expert, you can use this book as a reference book. The chapters are designed to be self-contained, so you can skip the chapters you already know about and read the book in any order you want!
  • If you are a Captivate Instructor, you can use this book as your courseware. The chapters propose a logical step-by-step approach and you can download the sample files to teach a flawless and comprehensive Captivate class to your students!

What is the content of the book?

The book is divided in the following 15 chapters

  1. Getting Started with Adobe Captivate 2019
  2. Working with Standard Objects
  3. Working with Multimedia
  4. Working with the Timeline and Other Useful Tools
  5. Developing Interactivity
  6. Crafting the Graphical Experience with Styles and Themes
  7. Working with Quizzes
  8. Capturing Onscreen Action
  9. Producing a Video Demo
  10. Creating a Responsive Project
  11. Creating Virtual Reality Projects
  12. Using Captivate with Other Applications
  13. Creating Accessible eLearning

Well I like the Mastering Adobe Captivate 2019 book but just cannot download all the example resources no matter what desktop / laptop I use. All with more than enough resource!!!!

Fed up with trying now so have cancelled my subscription to PackT and also hard bought the printed copy of the book from Amazon, that can go back now as like new

Total waste of my time trying to get the downloads to work

Will look elsewhere for a suitable book like the Kevin Siegel books

Hi Adrian,

Sorry to hear you had problems downloading the files. I tried it on my end and it worked like a charm! So, I don’t know what’s going on here.

Just to help you out, I have the files available on my personal cloud at https://link.dbr-training.eu/cp2019

Hope it helps.

Do offer an evaluation copy for instructors. If so please let me know how to obtain.

Hi David,

Thanks for your message and for your interest in our book.

This book has been designed both as a self learning ste-by-step guide and a courseware that Captivate instructors can use in their Instructor-led classes (I myself teach a lot of Captivate training gigs with my book).

As such, the book provides all the necessary demo material (.cptx files, images, audio clips, etc…) These assets can be downloaded from the Packt Publishing website of from the github repository at https://github.com/PacktPublishing/Mastering-Adobe-Captivate-2019-Fifth-Edition

Packt Publishing does not offer any evaluation copy for instructors right now, and, as authors, this is beyond our reach.

Hope this answers your questions….

Have a great day

Damien

Hi Martin.

Glad you like Mastering Adobe Captivate 2017!

The 2019 edition is an update from the book you already have. It covers the same exercises and follows the same approach. We have simple added a few sections in order to cover the new features of Captivate 2019 (Virtual Reality, Interactive Videos, Fluid Boxes 2.0, etc). We have also reviewed a few sections based on reader feedback and removed a few sections on legacy objects (such as Text Animation, Rollover Objects, etc.)

I hope this helps in taking your decision… The choice is yours!

Cheers

Hi Damien,

I just bought your new book. I look forward to new chapters and information.

I’m preparing basic training for my colleagues and customers about Adobe Captivate. May I use demo materials from this book for my own training?

Cheers

Martin

Sure, please go ahead.

And do let me know your feedback about teaching a Captivate class with this book. It is always good to know and such feedback drives the making of the next editions.

And if you need some more advanced training for your staff, I’m always available to come over and help you out!

Good luck with the training..

Damien

I wish if Adobe sponsors the book and offer us(member of this community) a free pdf version!

By that way, Auther will get money & respect for their hard-work and also they will get 10 times more reader. and we will get a free copy of a valuable book.

You use the word exercises above. Do you have example .cptx files included as lessons with each section or module or it written exercises only that you follow.

Hello David.

The exercise files can be downloaded from the Packt Publishing website. So you have actual files to work with when reading the book.
