Disable the Progress Bar in Adobe Captivate
I've been an eLearning designer and developer since 2005. In 2015 I started my own eLearning design company. I began creating Adobe Captivate video tutorials to help promote my business through my YouTube channel at https://youtube.com/captivateteacher. My intention with my YouTube videos was to attract attention from organizations looking for a skilled Captivate developer. This strategy proved successful as I've worked with clients worldwide, helping them build highly engaging eLearning solutions. In addition, my YouTube channel presented another benefit of attracting aspiring Captivate developers to seek me out as a teacher. I now offer online and onsite training on Adobe Captivate, teaching users the skills to build engaging and interactive learning.

This video is from four years ago. It may not work in the latest version of Captivate.

Paul, can we use this javascript to disable the playbar from allowing the user to go backwards using the slide but disable the forward action of the slider? I have the javascript to disable the playbar from both forward and back slider navigation just wondering how to tweak the javascript to only disable forward slider navigation.

You might want to reach out to Michael Barshinger and see if this is something that he can do. He is the original author. I just made a video about his work.

Why are the only instructions I can find, only in a video. Are there no written instructions?

It’s ironic you say that because this video is based on the written words in an article I found on the web.

But yes, you are right. Adobe Captivate has a small audience when compared to Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, etc. I believe because of this they are relatively underfunded so any type of documentation by Adobe themselves is minimal at best. It’s not uncommon to look at the help pages online and they haven’t been updated since the release of the latest version. This is something that long time users such as myself have complained to Adobe about for years. In fact, the lack of complete documentation is partly why people like myself share our content and I think it’s partly why Adobe created this space as well.

This option needs to go in the feature request category.
