Images as Buttons in Captivate 2019 Update 2
I've been an eLearning designer and developer since 2005. In 2015 I started my own eLearning design company. I began creating Adobe Captivate video tutorials to help promote my business through my YouTube channel at https://youtube.com/captivateteacher. My intention with my YouTube videos was to attract attention from organizations looking for a skilled Captivate developer. This strategy proved successful as I've worked with clients worldwide, helping them build highly engaging eLearning solutions. In addition, my YouTube channel presented another benefit of attracting aspiring Captivate developers to seek me out as a teacher. I now offer online and onsite training on Adobe Captivate, teaching users the skills to build engaging and interactive learning.

As I say in my video this is probably the most undervalued update to Adobe Captivate 2019, however when I think of the hundreds of shapes used as buttons or regular image buttons I’ve used over the years that have provided an unsatisfying result, I’m very excited to see how this speeds up my development process.

Please note that I recorded this video with prerelease copies of the software and there may be differences in how the final release version looks and behaves.

As a instructor / developer note these images as buttons do not work in the swf preview – make sure you test in html browser especially is you add states to the image button the same as you do to shape buttons

Considering that we are seeing more and more features that only work with HTML5 (Interactive Video, VR, SVG as buttons with rollover), it’s not a stretch to figure out what will not be in the next major release.

This is a great addition.

Yeah, as I said in the video, you begin to realise that you spend time, perhaps hours on every course creating a variety of shapes with image fills to achieve the same thing. I think these sorts of features are more important than all buzzword features like VR.

This is a great new feature and can’t wait to start using it as using smartshapes/fill has caused issues in the past 🙂
