JAWS cannot see buttons on SWF version of Captivate file; buttons detected in HTML5 version only
We have enabled accessibility, applied accessibility names and descriptions, and exported a Captivate 2019 presentation as both SWF and HTML5.
Using JAWS 2018 screen reader on the HTML5 version in IE11, I am able to use the shortcut CTRL+INSERT+B to list all the buttons on the screen. However, when I do CTRL+INSERT+B on the SWF version, I get “no buttons were found.” (I get the same result when using the ANDI toolbar on the SWF version). Likewise, on the SWF version button names are not read when we tab to them.
Is there a setting we are missing?
(FYI, we are testing the Captivate by uploading to a server and opening the multiscreen, …swf_html.htm file, and index_scorm.html files. Does that make a difference? Should we be testing in an LMS?)
