Captivate guide for ex-Storyliner?

Hi all. Just joined. Has anyone got any documentation for users new to Captivate coming from advanced use of Storyline please?

Topics I’m especially interested in

1) comparison of available templated interaction types for quizzes etc. What are the equivalents?

2) example projects executing javascript for variables, functions and making calls to the LMS API. I see the official docs here …

https://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/common-js-interface.html

… and I’m going to work through this “companion” which looks awesome …

https://community-portal-prod-previewdata.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/files/2019/09/9213246a7c4cadeedded/index.html

… but wondering if you have a favourite source or guru for this kind of thing?

4) clever ways in Captivate to probe the hosting LMS’s API, and fall-back methods when a proprietary LMS API implementation is not properly following the specs?

All comments welcome.

thanks!

J

If you are on 11.5, please explore the Quick Start Project, accessible from the Assets panel. You’ll find several blogs about them in my personal blog and in this portal.

AFAIK you will not find that type of documentation. It is like asking for a manual to switch from a using a bike with an airplane… Bit exaggerating I know, my cynical nature.

UI is totally different. Captivate has focus on reusability with Themes, external and Internal Libraries, Shared actions. StoryLine is basically a copy/paste application. UI is totally different, terminology as well. I will post a link (in a separate comment because of moderation) to a blog I wrote pointing out the main topics for a starting CP-user, and you’ll see that those topics (except Quiz) are not even part of StoryLine.
