My predecessor created some lessons and published them to our LMS, but never saved the actual captivate files where I can get to them. Is there a way to recover the Captivate files from the published SCORM files?

Did you post this also in the Adobe forums (nick name can be different)? The answer is no, you cannot recover a raw cptx file from a published SCORM course. Maybe you can recover some assets, but that is all.
