I had this problem, turned out you can’t work in Captivate on a file stored on OneDrive. Moved my files to the My Captivate Projects folder on my C drive.

Not sure that is the cause, because I have most of my Captivate projects on OneDrive. The problem may be that for non-responsive projects most Preview methods use temporary SWF output, not HTML output.

It is a general error message, can have different causes. Which browser are you using? Is the Flash Player enabled in that browser?

Can you preview with F11 which generates a HTML5 preview both for responsive and non-responsive projects?
