Captivate 2019 – SWF compilation failed
(10)

On Windows 10, just re-installed Captivate 2019.  Unable to publish anything as Video, due to SWF compilation error.  Even creating a new file with only a title slide directly in CP2019 results in the same error.  Am now at deadline and will need a solution or new tool.  Any solutions?? Using 64bit

I am also getting the error Swf compilation failed when I try to Publish as a Video. I am not trying to publish Flash, I am simply using the Publish As Video option within Captivate 2019  Is there any solution to this?

I am getting the same message “SWF Compilation failed” when trying to publish a video file.  Was a solution ever discovered? Captivate version 2019 11.5.5.553

Are you talking about a software simulation or another type of project? The FMR-slides in a software sim may cause this problem. Did you check the HTML tracker under the Project menu?

I am having the same problem. I have Captivate 2019 11.5.5 and just upgraded my computer to Windows 10.  I first received this issue while working with a template.   To make sure it wasn’t an issue with my template, I  created a new project  from scratch with 15 plain blank slides with a text caption only on each blank slide and I still get the message. Then removed all text captions so it is just plain blank slides and I still get the message. “SWF Compilation Failed – Note: Please verify if any of the actionscript keywords is used as user variable name”.  Is there any updates on this issue?

Template files (cptl) are buggy at this moment, do not use them.

If this is a non-responsive project you need to know that all Preview methods except F11 (Preview HTML in Browser) use a temporary SWF output, which may cause issues. You didn’t specify when you got the error: on publishing (as in the original question) or when trying to Preview?

Has anyone gotten a resolution to this issue?

Which issue? I posted several questions to understand the asked questions, but never got an answer. You say ‘same issue’, maybe you understood? You cannot publish to SWF anymore because Flash Player is dead also for desktop browsers. You cannot use dual publishing anymore because that would automatically show SWF output on desktop browsers.  What is your issue?

I am experiencing the same problem.  I successfully recorded a short simulation and ran the preview-project after lunch today.  I have made several attempts to record another short simulation but when I run the preview-project, I get the “SWF Compilation failed – Note: Please verify if any of the actionscript keywords is used as user variable name.” message.  I then went back and loaded the first simulation that successfully ran the preview-project.  Now it won’t work either.

Do you really want to publish to SWF? If not, please try Preview HTML in Browser (F11) if you are using a non-responsive project. At this moment it is the only Preview method for that type of projects using a temporary HTML output, whereas the other Previews use SWF. Probably SWF output is no longer supported on your system?

Which version of CP2019 please? Do you run Captivate with ‘Run as Administrator’ feature? After reinstalling did you clean the Preferences, delete the Layouts folder?
