A passion to help others by creating and delivering adult learning that was relevant, engaging and beneficial for the learner, inspired Orin Schmitt to become a Training and Development Specialist. Orin Schmitt is a native Oregonian, born and raised in Portland currently living in the Mt. Tabor Area.  He began his career in retail management and then moved into the world of banking in various positions such as Personal Banking Officer, Legal Processor, Events Coordinator, and Business Banker. In 2001 he began working at Standard Insurance. He made opportunities over the next 14 years to continue to develop his skills and talents as a Claim Analyst, Call Center Supervisor, Learning & Development Specialist, Technical Trainer and Team Lead in the Human Resources Department where he helped implement the LMS system and create and manage the companies mentoring program.  In 2015 he went to Moda Health where he worked as an Instructional Designer, but something was missing, the people. His passion for training and helping others made him re-evaluate his current situation. In April of 2016, he switched gears and began working in non-profit at SE Works/Worksource Portland Metro as an Employment Training Specialist which then led to the role of Instructor where for 2 years he was responsible for creating and developing multiple day training classes using various methods of technology, coaching, mentoring, lectures, group discussions, tutorials, role playing, stories, videos, PowerPoints and classroom materials. In addition to the creation of the classes and materials he also delivered and facilitated the training. Prior to each class, he was involved with interviewing, testing and recruiting the adult learners. After each session, he follow up with the participants to evaluate the success of the training and the effectiveness of the information that was being delivered. Question? When I use text to speech it always abruptly ends the final word in the sentence and it sounds choppy. How do I prevent that. Also, how do I get it to pronounce the right word. For example. I want it to read Record like files but it pronounces is a record like i’m recording something.
