How to Stop Background Audio for Quiz Slides
I have been employed as a Sr. Technical Writer/Communicator with Columbian Financial Group since 2005. Several years ago, I also took a revised role as the Training & Content Developer for CFG. I am a graduate of Oglethorpe University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. My major was Communications and Rhetoric Studies with a minor in Art. I really enjoy writing and that's my primary job function - creating content and keeping that content relevant is a challenging goal. I also enjoy writing short stories and poems, several of which have been published. When I am not working, I also enjoy gardening, painting, and handbuilding in clay. Traveling is also in my blood - probably as the result of being an Air Force brat most of my younger years. In 1991, I took a year long sabbatical and to explore more of the world - low budget with backpack in tow. These days my travels take me across the pond to England, Italy, Greece, Germany, Portugal, and Spain - anywhere with a soft bed and hopefully, air conditioning and indoor plumbing. I still have a few adventures left in me and on my bucket list is a visit to the Amazon, Galapagos, Machu Picchu, and South Africa. Insurance Related Certifications: LOMA - ACS, AAPA, ARA, AIRC, FLMI, and FFSI.

I am working with Captivate 9. I have imported background audio and when checked ‘Stop Background Audio’ for slides before my video (video clip only should have the background audio) stops the music loop. However, after the video ends, the Quiz slides that follow the video – still include the background audio – even though I turned the checked ‘Stop Background Audio’ for the Quiz slides as well.

You can mute all audio by assigning 1 to the system variable cpCmndMute, using the On Enter action of the first quiz slide. Not sure if you have already the Mute command, which would even be easier. If you want to turn off muting again for slides after the quiz slides, do the inverse: Assign 0 to cpCmndMute.

Are you really on that old version? Can you please specify the full version number, as you find under Help, About Captivate? Do you have other audio on the quiz slides? If not, you could mute all audio on them as a temporary workaround.

Lieve, Yes, on version 9.0.2.437. My work has me bouncing back and forth between authoring and editing tools no focus on just using Captivate. I had been away from Captivate for nine months or more before I could circle back around to using/learning it. Having said that, I thought by turning on the Stop Background Audio field for each quiz slide that I was ‘muting’ the .wav file I have set to loop and that should only play during the video. This works for slides that play before the video. Is there another way to ‘mute’ all audio on the quiz/question slides? I do not have any other audio on the quiz slides. Thank you for any additional help…Deborah
