Closed Captioning changing TTS and vice versa

I have a project that uses text-to-speech.  All of my slide notes include VTML code to control the TTS.  I now need to add Closed Captions to my video.  However, when I edit the captions it also edits my TTS.  Obviously this doesn’t work.  I don’t want codes to display in my captions and I don’t want my audio to be without them.

How do I create CC without affecting my TTS?

Historically I would include entries in my Adobe Captivate Notes panel for text to speech and separate entries for closed captioning. Use the checkmarks on the right-hand side of slide notes to determine which is for TTS and which is for closed captioning. For example, I used to work at the GTAA. when I would mention the name of the organization I would have to spell out the letters to get it to pronounce correctly. i.e. Gee Tee Eh Eh. In theory, Captivate is supposed to remove the VTML code but it doesn’t always work and in this case, Gee Tee Eh Eh will never automatically become GTAA.
