DpiAwareness = 1 but still getting error message

Following a download of an update to Captivate 2019, my admin support updated the DpiAwareness parameter to 1. However, when I try to start a Software Simulation I’m still getting the error. Can anyone advise on what might be causing this.

I cannot access Software Simulation when I want to start a project.  I tried to make changes to the file – C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 2019 x64\AdobeCaptivate.ini – DpiAwareness=1, but was denied permission to save the file, even though I am the administrator/owner of the PC. Is there anyway around this?

You cannot edit and save that file in its original location. You need to do that elsewhere, and then you will be able to move it to the installation folder, after having renamed the original file (which you will need to reset after the capture or the application itself becomes too hard to use due to the tiny interface).

Here is a step by step tutorial on how to move the file to your desktop, make the changes and save a new version of the file.

Hello, can you tell me where to find the Display Percentage and why this might help?

Thanks

Lieve is likely referring to the scale and layout section in Windows 10. You can find that setting in Settings > Display. It probably says something like [100% (Recommended)]. I don’t think this will make a difference. But maybe she knows something I don’t. Let her know the percentage value in this parameter.

If I had a dollar for every time an IT person said they did something but actually didn’t…

I would double-check that your IT department did in fact make the change. You can typically find the file in the following location.

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 2019 x64\AdobeCaptivate.ini

While a regular user cannot edit the file you should still be able to open it and confirm the settings. Right-click on the file and open it in Notepad to view the settings.

Thanks for the comment but the parameter is set to 1, I checked before I posted.

Hi Paul, someone suggested I check the Display Percentage no idea what this would indicate.  Can you suggest how this might help?

Many thanks
