How can I launch the player in a new window?
Hello,
I haven’t used Captivate very much, but have some Captivate content I’m trying to get to play on our bare bones LMS for our learners. The LMS provider asked us to publish the content so the player will launch in a new window. Is there any way to do this? I believe they are used to using Storyline content and in Storyline this is just a setting in the player. I don’t see that as an option in Captivate. Is there another way to do this in Captivate?

Hello there!
What I worked out (Using Captivate 2017, but the principle should be the same) is that I:
- Exported the Activity (software simulation) as a HTML5.
- Then I loaded the file as a zip into the LMS unit file structure in a folder I created just for that activity (you will see why in a minute).
- Within that folder, I extracted the Zip so it was an unpacked file with the index.html ready to go (opens the activity).
- Then, I created a start button on an ‘Activities’ page that pointed with a hyperlink (that opens in a new tab/window) directly to that specific activity folder, straight to the index.html file for that specific activity.
- That way, you can have as many activities on a single page as you need – you just need to decide on how you will manage your file structure and how you will link the learners to the activities.
Once you have a template set up, it becomes a snap!!! See attached images for help with context 🙂
