Why?

Surprised by the title. I have hesitated to write everything in capitals. You may see this as an invitation.  There is a BIG difference between the Creation of shared or advanced actions and the USE of shared actions.

To create shared/advanced actions you need not really to have programming experience, just a logical mindset is fine. Nevertheless I am aware of the fact that many Captivate users are afraid of that Captivate feature.  It takes some time to set them up, to define the logic, to test and … you have so little time.

To create fun or engaging interactions the basic workflows will often need to be extended. That can be done with advanced actions and variable, or with JavaScript but…. you have no time.

Demo project

Watch this project, which includes 4 typical interactions:

  • Dashboard interaction
  • Slideshow
  • Click/Reveal
  • Toggle buttons

I used design elements from the new Quick Start Project ‘Diverse’.

Sorry, but was not able to upload the published project to this portal. Try using this link (on my domain):

Challenge

Both for me and for you:  will show you how to REUSE the shared actions to be used in your projects

  • WITHOUT having to create variables
  • WITHOUT having to create the actions.

You need to learn:

  • The meaning of ‘parameters’
  • How to trigger a shared action
  • How to choose the parameters
  • How to transfer shared actions to your project

You will get a start project and step-by-step workflow for each interaction. First blog post will explain Parameters, and show a first interaction (slideshow).

Do you accept this challenge?
