Hello! Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am currently trying to create a software simulation using Adobe Captivate 2019. Each time I click on the New tab and then double click on the Software Simulation icon, I receive the following error message and not exactly sure what it is telling me to do. If someone could please let me know that would be great! Thanks so much in advance.

BTW I  keep an old system without retina screen for recording, but that is probably not possible for you. That system doesn’t need the hassle which I described.

Software simulations and Video Demo require a px/px setup for your screen. You are using a retina screen, where that is not the case. You need to edit the indicated file ‘AdobeCaptivate.ini’ as told. That will need admin rights. I suggest, while Captivate is closed:

  • Find the file in the installation folder, make a duplicate to your desktop or another easily accessible folder
  • Edit the duplicate file, it is not long, and change the line ‘DPIAwareness = 0’ to ‘DPIAwareness = 1’, which you can do in a non-formatting text editor like NotePad (on Windows). Save the file as AdobeCaptivate.ini
  • Return to the installation folder. Rename the file AdobeCaptivate.ini to AdobeCaptivateOld. ini (or another name) and copy the duplicate file to this folder to replace it. You need to keep the original file as well.

When you start Captivate you’ll see that everything is now very tiny. Lower the resolution of your screen (i the OS° until it is workable. Start the Recording.

When you have finished, you have to reverse the two files again, to allow you to go back to the original resolution in Captivate application.
