Using Captivate 2019.

I am using the YouTube insert URL feature and then publishing the captivate project as a SCORM. The image example is the project as hosted on a testing site. The video is stuck on the loading bar and never plays. It doesn’t work in preview or published form.

Does anybody have ideas on why this happens and what I can do to resolve the issue? I am new to the software and have been experimenting for a week – so please excuse my ignorance to understanding this.

Thank you

Perhaps my video can help you out. One thing to consider is that YouTube allows the owner of the video to allow embedding (which is what you’re doing) or not. If they don’t allow embedding your learners will never see the video. As a YouTube creator I allow embedding of my videos. Here is one you can test but also happens to cover the topic of adding YouTube videos as slide video in Adobe Captivate. This may help you out.

Thank you for this information Paul as I’m struggling with this same issue.  I’ve been watching your videos non-stop for about 2 months now – learning and obsessing about things. I did a test and your video actually worked in publish mode.

Now I wonder why website like y2mateguru are able to work. The was my big brilliant work-around until now – when encountering sharing issues with these same videos using AWS S3. Now, I wonder of that site is picking up code to not make the video available.

Complicated.

It just comes down to if embedding as been allowed or not. This is true of websites as well as videos. I often do this with my Vimeo videos. I can set them to be viewable from a particular domain as well. For example, I might share a tutorial with Adobe but otherwise not make it available to embed it on other sites. My rule of thumb is to ask the original author (or whoever owns the copyright) if you can make their video available in your training. Most organizations are flattered and are willing to share.
